It may be his first NRL match for the Sydney Roosters but Mark “Piggy” Riddell will be no stranger to Roosters fans when he runs out on the SFS on Friday night. A veteran of 178 First grade matches, Piggy has spent the last couple of years playing in England but has returned to Australia and is looking forward to his NRL return after being announced on the bench. “I am just thrilled to be getting a run again in the NRL because I didn’t really think it was ever going to happen again so I just want to make the most of it and enjoy my time,” he said. Having been around for so long Piggy would be a pretty good judge of a team’s potential and his opinion of the current Roosters squad would leave Roosters fans excited about the season ahead. “There is just so many quality players around the club at the moment and most of them are still so young,” he said. “The high level of talent in the club extends to kid’s who haven’t even played first grade yet so you combine them with the few older guys and the young kids with experience and this team has un limited potential.” Continue reading
