Storm forecast

Melbourne youngster Chase Stanley’s interrupted season is over after he suffered an elbow injury at the weekend. Stanley succumbed inside the opening 20 minutes of the AAMI Park clash with South Sydney, along with front-rower Aiden Tolman who suffered a rib cartilage injury, and coach Craig Bellamy has confirmed Stanley won’t play again in 2010 after having a slow start because of a shoulder injury. Fortunately for Bellamy though he has a ready-made replacement to step straight back in after overcoming ankle and thigh injuries of his own. “Certainly with Chase getting injured that gives us a chance to put Justin back in which is great, the more time he gets the better he’ll be,” Bellamy added of the 19-year-old who has excited Storm fans with his try-scoring feats in his handful of games so far. Bellamy is no better than hopeful that Tolman will get to play a farewell game in Round 26 against the Knights but he does welcome back Adam Blair from a rest and Jeff Lima following the birth of his first child leading up to the Rabbitohs game. Another rising star, forward Jesse Bromwich, has been named at 18th man as Bellamy keeps an eye on a couple of players carrying injuries, and the coach has been impressed by the under-20s graduate. “Yeah he’s been really good Jesse,” Bellamy said

Judiciary visits

Melbourne’s Jeff Lima is likely to miss the NRL club’s round 12 clash with Canterbury after being charged with a dangerous throw. The Storm prop has been booked for a 41st minute tackle, also involving Adam Blair, on Canberra’s Travis Waddell during Melbourne’s 17-6 victory on Saturday night. Lima will miss the clash with the Bulldogs if he enters an early guilty plea and also if he unsuccessfully defends the grade one charge at the NRL judiciary. The Storm have a bye this weekend and play Canterbury at AAMI Stadium on May 30.

Cronulla winger Isaac Gordon will avoid a ban with the early plea to a charge of dangerous contact with the legs or feet. He will miss Saturday’s clash with Parramatta if he unsuccessfully defends the charge.

Inglis departing early for WCC

Greg Inglis ($193,000 CTW) will fly into London three days earlier in a bid to play in the World Cup Challenge against Leeds. Inglis has a hip complaint and will be required to play 20 minutes of a hit out against the Harlequins to prove he is fit enough to face Leeds. Storm football manager said “He is doing more running now, he didn’t play in the All-Stars game . . . and our physio wants him to come with us and keep working on him.” Prop Jeff Lima ($224,900 FRF) is suffering from leg tightness and may also be required to prove match fitness in the Harlequins hit out. The Storm will also be without injured forwards Brett White ($180,500 FRF), Sika Manu ($214,100 2RF) and also Halfback Cooper Cronk ($294,00 HLV). Anthony Quinn ($91,400 CTW) returned from a serious neck injury last season, against Brisbane in trials unscathed and seems almost certain to regain his position in the starting line up on the left wing. The right wing position seems to be up for grabs with newcomer Matt Duffie ($73,600 CTW) and 28 year old speedster Luke MacDougall (Not Listed) set to fight it out to partner Dane Nielsen ($148,600 CTW) who looks to be moving back into the centres.
