Idris excited to return to backline

Jamal Idris wants for his time at second row to be over so he can make a permanent home for himself in the NRL at centre. The Canterbury star says he will play wherever needed, but admits he’s itching to move back to his original position out wide. Canterbury coach Kevin Moore shifted the 20-year-old monster to the backrow last year, to help the club cope with injury problems and add size in the forwards. Hannant stands by Hodgson

Bulldogs prop Ben Hannant ($321,600 FRF) has urged officials to resign fellow Front Row partner Michael Hodgson ($197,100 FRF/2RF). Hodgson arrived at the Bulldogs last year basically as an unknown, and emerged as a major figure in the Wooden Spoon turnaround to second place in the minor premiership of ’09.  Averaging 98 metres and 21.5 tackles per game Hannant said Hodgsons game is along way from over and he has a lot more to offer. “In the media they’re saying you’re getting too old, you’ve got to go but look at Petero, look at Pricey, they’re 35, 36 and they’re playing their best football now and it doesn’t look like they’re slowing down,” Hannant said. He also put his backing behind new signing Dene Halatau ($174,800 2RF/CTW) to fill the void left behind by UK bound Greg Eastwood. “He’s one guy I’ve been very, very impressed with, I can’t wait to play with him because I think he’s going to make a very big impact on our side.”
