Boom Sydney Roosters centre Kane Linnett will miss 4-6 weeks after suffering a knee injury during Sunday’s 19-12 NRL loss to St George Illawarra. The 21-year-old has medial ligament damage in his right knee after lasting just eight minutes of the epic SCG encounter. The Roosters’ other injury fears have eased with prop Jason Ryles (ribs) and back Joseph Leilua (corked quad) both possible starters against Cronulla at Toyota Stadium on Friday night. Second-rower Mitch Aubusson (shoulder) is likely to return a week later for the round 24 clash with Gold Coast. “That’s a pretty good result after the incident, we were a bit worried about that,” captain Braith Anasta said of Linnett’s injury. “A few other guys have got some niggling injuries, we could miss a few this week.

An update from the Roosters Website – The Sydney Roosters have received some mixed injury news after the narrow loss to the competition leaders on Sunday. Jason Ryles (ribs), Mose Masoe (mild concussion) and Todd Carney (mild concussion) will be available for selection for this Friday night’s game away to the Cronulla Sharks. However, Kane Linnett (knee), Joseph Leilua (thigh) and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (calf) will all spend some time on the sideline. Linnett suffered a medial ligament injury to his right knee, which is likely to end his season with the expected recovery between four and six weeks. Leilua’s corked thigh and Waerea-Hargreaves’ strained calf are likely to keep them out for one to two weeks, and with the short turnaround this week has the medical staff convinced they won’t be fit for selection. Mitchell Aubusson will be continually monitored during the week as he recovers from a left shoulder injury endured in the win over Parramatta Eels a little over a week ago.
